Trying to remodel...

Re: Trying to remodel...
I'm kinda pushin' mm3d.
it's free. It's made for .md2 and .md3 modeling.
More players have the chance to model, if it's free.
It's actively developed. New versions all the time.
Good guys makin' this tool. Open source, too.
Download Newest Developmental Version.

Have a look at this movie Rab,d, it's only 3Mb in size, I've just recorded it with CamStudio.
When I'm in animation mode I move the bones, obviously to animate the model, I have the second frame selected as you can see.
But I end up moving the bones like in editing mode. They move, but the model stays :/
Frustrating :\

Re: Trying to remodel...
Have you assigned all the vertices to the bones?
Under "influences" Select all vertices then assign them to your first bone. You only need one bone joint to move 1 object, btw. I thought at first you need 2 to provide alignment...but it's not that way. One bone joint will work with a solid model...BUt, keep the second one for now..it can be assigned to the loading mechanism.
One of mm3d's nice features is you select with left click unselect with right click...so it's really easy to isolate and be specific with your selection of faces or vertices.
You can look at this .mm3d file to see how i have it set up.

Re: Trying to remodel...
I haven't thought about the asignment, though I've done it in MS3D.
I will check that and resave it in MM3D.
My vertices are grouped in "body" and "reload".
It's easy to select a group and add it to the bone.
The 2 bones that you see are indeed for that specific animation.
I'm just trying things out, you haven't given me the hands yet
reassigning did the trick.

Re: Trying to remodel...
I'd start with this free modeling program. Download and install the latest version 1.3.7Daniel wrote:I want to make games and stuff and model/programming (making games in general). Re: Trying to remodel...
I usually install all of them.
The ET engine is free, but i don't think the content is (skins, models and maps).
Once you have MM3D you can try this tutorial.
It's meant for MS3D but it will pretty much be the same:
http://school.ddaynormandy.com/index.php?page=ms3dtut2
You can always try MS3D for 30 days free. If needed, I can help you on your way after that (legally)

Re: Trying to remodel...
I will install then repost later. Also what needs to be done in the terms of modeling?
Re: Trying to remodel...
I would suggest starting small. And that fits what we need.Daniel wrote:I will install then repost later. Also what needs to be done in the terms of modeling?

Like infy's models, in the above post, with the lamp and stuff...we need static models.
Try making some sandbags or crates that have some definition like each piece of wood..or any other ww2 related thing. Maybe a empty shell or bomb. Use you imagination. If it's good stuff...it will be included in our dday+ project.
Re: Trying to remodel...
Ok sounds good although the first thing i want to try out after practicing is not related to this game but i want to make a P-90
Re: Trying to remodel...

Re: Trying to remodel...
Yes. you can use Sketchup to produce the model. If you do not have the Pro version...if you have the free version...it is a bit tricky to export the model to a format that can be edited for dday. I have found a .obj and .xml export plug-in for Sketchup. I have not been successful exporting skins, though. So..you can build the model in Sketchup then export it as .obj then skin it with Lithunwrap. Then load it in MS3D or Milkshape to export as an .md2 or .md3.Daniel wrote:Ok that tutorial is so confusing......... compared to the program i got... ill try my best and ill show you my results of teh knife (un-skined)
