D. Boon's Ghost wrote:Hate to call up an older bit, but there are a lot of great names from the past mentioned in this nostalgia thread.

Ronbonius, in particular; the younger chaps around here never had the pleasure of playing with ol' Ron. When I first started playing, he was one of the few people that seemed to go out of his way to help new players. I've always respected the hell out of him for that. Whatever 'ethics' I've carried while playing this game can be directly tied to Ron's good nature way back when.

Heck, the entire 4th clan were a bunch of great guys. I'd really like to get back in touch with those cats. If anyone has contact info, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The OSS guys were also top-notch people. Stokes, Pepper, Parts, Slemkat, etc.; great guys who you could count on being honest-to-goodness people, as opposed to 'internet posternalities'. Imagine that.

Bring back your server, Stokes! :D
I had the pleasure of playing and talking with Ron many times. He live(s/d) a few hours away from me but I never got to meet him.

I see miller poked in, some of the old SS guys.. shit.

What has everyone been up to?

I started playing this game as an emotional "emo" tweenager.

I'm probably no more mature really, but have more responsibilities 12 years later :(
Have a 4 year old daughter, 2 black labs, a wife, and a desk job.. Anyone else end up living the stereotypical middle-class american dream?
Same here mostly, 2 year old daughter, a house, 2 huskies etc. I look back when I was 19-20 playing dday and i've read some of my older posts and thought how much of a raging douchebag I was at times, for no reason other than my own enjoyment. Funny how much more perspective you get once you hit 25 and up.

Can't believe I started playing D-Day 11 years ago, thats just bananas.

I think you were the original Troll, and not just on the boards, but the entire internet. Good times. I had a lot of laughs due to your silliness. You also pissed off a lot of people, which resulted in more laughs. Good times. That IRC channel was prank central. Anybody remember the "I'M LOOKING AT GAY PORNO!" prank? I sent that shit to my mom hahahaha.

Yeah it was pretty fun at times. I tried to counter some of it by making/hosting maps.

@Boon : You were a rare sight, even when I started playing. Just like Carp :) I do agree with you though, the 4th guys were pretty awesome. Torturer, Guido, etc. I remember leaving to play DoD with them when they made DB (Devils Brigade). I always wonder what happened to them. Oh and RedKetchup, he was the canadian hasselhoff.

Classic. Somebody's got to have a backup of the old forums..there was quality of a kind there.

But I was discharged from OSS? Is there a story behind this? :D Seriously can't remember..

Anybody know what happened to OSS anyway? Looked like Stokes went on a bender and shut everything down or something?

Haven't known it to be alive, but probably because it died? And that's probably also the answer to your second question :(

The OSS will never die! We all just got reassigned elsewhere! Some of us can now be found tearing up the landscapes of Karkand and the Caspian Borders!
