Bill Stokes signing off.

Post by Bill Stokes »

Hi all,

Just got the news today that I have terminal lung cancer. I still have a few tests to do, but other than that it's goodbye.

Thanks to all the friends (and enemies!) that I found over the years playing this game, and I wish you and your families all the best for the future.

I will not be posting any more but will drop by now an then.

Quite sorry to hear that, Bill. I'll always remember you're very witty remarks. Absolutely always a gentleman in game and the forums. You're an interesting bloke and I have witnessed you help so many people. It's tragic, I hope you can stay comfortable through it all.

Bill you are a pillar of the DDay community and the server obviously had that legendary status to the community that we can all be thankful for. I'm sorry to hear what life has thrown your way but I hope it has been a good ride and hope you have more for whatever else you may want it for. Incurable in many cases can still mean quality years and I am hoping for this for you.

Bill, I am so sorry to be late to your message. I have just snuck back into the D-Day forums after a few year hiatus. I first met you around the age of 12-13, I am now 30 (my how the time flies). I began this game as just a kid and it has had a remarkable impact in my life, thanks in large part to members of the community such as yourself. Thank you for all that you have done for this community.

This week i was thinking a lot about this game, 2002, 16 years old.
But coming to think, what i really miss about this game was the people.

Bill Strokes was someone i never chat too much with, but i really liked him, i can say i kind of admired his posture in our community, i always saw him as one of the "all star".
I'm sorry i couldn't come before.

As Maximus said, this game and people that we used to have fun with had a big impact in my life.
