Rab,d have you checked out this for a possible dday engine?

Its open source and well documented.... it comes with a lot of the features we might want..

Not sure about the progress on FTE! Just want to get stuff organized so we can actually get something set up.

I was able to load the map into this. I think if the dday pak files can be changed to .pk3 it might actually work :)

No I have had no success loading the game dll with the engine under warsow's format as of yet. I will continue to try.

The maps look/run fantastic though.. Frames are through the roof with this engine.

Just to list some of the features if we were able to mod warsows version of qfusion for our own uses.. A UI to start from... a much better server browser built into the game.. IRC chat built into the game.. More shader functionality.. larger q3.bsp's are supported.

That would be fantastic as we do need a coder :) but I do feel if Fafs was interested in this project he could jump on board anytime!

From the sounds of it what might need to be done is changing the current game dll to match angel script. (which is purposely similar to C)
After reading about angel script though I am wondering if that just allows users to more easily edit game dlls.. Not really sure though this is all regurgitated information from gamedev forums.

With scripting you can modify the game without changing the core dll, that is why you need to move the dday specific stuff out of the core dll and into the script and just use the qfusion core dll as it is. At least that is how I think it should work.

If I knew I'd be happy to answer questions but I don't know anything about these engines and it would take time to figure out.

Yeah that's true, I understand. I know a lot about making Q2 maps but don't have much energy for making Q3 maps. Well thanks for considering it.

At firt look Qfusion uses Q3 like game logic. So i think it is not good choice of engine.
