Wake (lag fix)

so when is wake going to be made better so it doesnt lag like a retard's wheel chair goin uphill with a low battery? im certain the map would get played more if it wasnt such a choppy map

I don't think the team is working on it but I have been make or tring to make skins so I think I'll try to make wake a little better

lol....i think i have the answer....and the cause. ;]
Name: wake
why wake? well...try this...Use Stokes modified ref_gl, where the water ripples(very nice in most cases)...+ that to fafner's use of the func_water(up and down motion) and wahhhhllllah! Wake. Nice effect, best in dday. ;]
Lags the f^ck out of any engine though.
Also, i have conducted a few experiments and found that the fire sprite used on the barrel in the death room( and in so many other maps) lags any computer with < 64mb vid card.
Together...bad mojo, baby.
Try deleting(renaming) the fire sprite, it helps a little. Helps poldday1 and 5. Also, munf's new map.

Hey, faf...can't you disable the func_water?

It's definitely the water that causes it. I made the water insanely huge so it blends into the skybox better. Apparently that is very bad.

I've had the water removed on my server and it removes the lag completely. Here's an ent file to remove it, put this in dday/ents if you're running a server:

The boats float in the air now though, but oh well :lol:

I'll move this to the server forum where server owners might see it.

Nice Job, Fafner. There aren't lags anymore in wake. This is by far better than. :)
