Count the number of men around the gun in the picture. A one man crew wouldnt really be possible, and considering there is no bipod form for the gun, setting up a tripod would take like, five minutes. It wouldnt make sense to have.

The browning M1919A4 (USA team HMG) didn't and couldn't have a one man crew either. It also had a heavy tripod that needed to be setup before firing.
A three man crew armed with carbines was standard for the US. One guy carried the MG, One for the tripod and ammo, and another guy with more ammo.
I see no reason why realism couldn't be fudged and allow the Jap HMG, like it's already been done for the USA HMG.
Thou shalt maintain thine airspeed,
lest the ground should arise,
and smite thee mightily…
djeez, at last a dll thats slightly different and ppl want it like the old way
then take out the shotgun and the sword because i'd like an airborne class for the japanese too because i can reach further with an SMG than with a lame sword kthx
if u want the jpn hmg why not give it 5secs for deploying or something that u stand still 5secs and then the hmg deploys and u can shoot it.. just an idea.
It was the same with the the Thompson. It weighed in at 13 lbs.
While the MP40 was only at 8 lbs.
I'm guessing the weight difference on this was the stock and the heavy 45 caliber ammo.
probably right there derrick,
the thompson was quite a bulky weapon, and the mp40 looked like a toy, either way, i wouldnt want to be on the recieving end of either of them.
