| Post subject: | Bots! Test Release |
************************************ edit: Go to page 2 to download ************************************ *THIS MAY NEVER BE RELEASED* But, I managed to get semi-decent bots into the game. I've tried this a couple times in the past and it was really difficult, but I found the JABot which was designed specifically to be added to mods like this and it was fairly painless to add in. They are pretty stupid, but they aim good, so they are a bit of a challenge. It would take a lot of little tweaking and stuff to be good and it was crashing a lot earlier, so I don't know if I'll release it since I don't want to spend a lot of time on this right now. Here's a vid:

pretty impressive. i was suprised they can work the HMG. but of course thats a hell of an aim they have. they respect spawn locations? almost looked like it. |

The cool thing is, I hardly did any specialized code for it. All I did was assign a random class like Infantry or HMG or Flamethrower and they all worked as they do in that video pretty much. I only started working on this yesterday. They don't really respect spawn areas, but I might be able to do that without too much work. You have to make navigation files for each map, so I think if I make a separate one for each team, they might stay out of the spawns. |

Hernou, c'est specialisé par Fafner pour DDay. Ce n'est pas possible de jouer avec JABot maintenant. Nous devons attendre... |

Made some improvements. It doesn't crash at all now, even with 50 bots going. Still could use a lot of work though. Here's another video. This is 100% bots, with me just spectating. |

Man, that owns, I did notice 1 bot disconnecting because of an error. Did I see that right? |

I didn't notice that, but I don't think I've seen that happen. They do kill themselves if they get stuck, and there are a lot of error messages though. I think they should be easy to fix though. |

I don't think so. It's pretty close to being "good enough", and that's probably as much work as I'll do. |

I'll probably host a temporary server soon. I was going to right now but it crashes when I tested connecting to it. Everything's coming along really well though. They're actually pretty fun to play against now and act a lot like real players in some ways (maybe better though since they don't use nades). |

Looks pretty good, like Grinder playing himself. Gon flashes are 100x's to big though, gun flashes aren't that big. But then it is a game. |

I don't have quake2admin installed so no voting. There must be a bug with the maplist with it getting stuck on doomtown. |

FYI, I'm working on the code now so the server's down. If you get 'connection refused' that's why. I'll put it back up later tonight. |
