Re: Quake 2 mapping contest!

Where's Afrow when you need him - he was the best mapper ever (although Fafner/Parts made great maps too).

Re: Raspberry Pi's anyone?

OO Poo! You could run it out of your pocket. Isn't fascinating that you have far more computing power in your pocket then NASA landed people on the moon? I think it is more fascinating for us old farts (> 50 years old, I am 55 years old now and drawing a few pensions :D ) that the world we now live...

Mr. YOur no fun wrote:Can it run your old server?
Easily - my old server was a 400MHz - the Pi's are:

700 MHz Low Power ARM1176JZ-F Applications Processor

So Yes - and as to your next question - No, I will not set-up a server :p

Re: Raspberry Pi's anyone?

That looks an interesting device - I may have to get one. I just bought another Pi today (Raspberry Pi B, case, wireless dongle, infrared cam, camera extension lead, power supply and RTC all for £77.00). This will be set up for when the fish tank is in total darkness... I already have sorted out the...

Re: We've made it to 2015

I think the end of the oil age will prove the biggest challenge for humanity in the near future...if the Saudis talk of the end of the oil age in nearsight we should be worried! Thank the bloody Yanks and George Bush[s] for that. USA has huge oil reserves but rather than put it on the open market, ...

Raspberry Pi's anyone?

The Raspberry Pi is a brilliant bit of kit - I have two now (my first one runs dns/dhcp/ntpd/ for my home network).

Consider this message board we are using for this discussion. The technology used is only a couple decades old or so. Yet we consider this old technology. Being able to communicate a message basically instantly to anyone in the world and get a reply just as fast would be considered witchcraft and p...

Re: We've made it to 2015

Pheonix, I don't think you realise how big space is. Voyager 1 was launched in 1977 and is just now at the edge of our little solar system. It's speed is about 62000 kph. Right, so that is 37 years to get that far. Suppose we double it's speed? 124000 kph (34.4 kilometres per second) - that would st...

Humans will fuck it all up long before the sun dies. Like it's happening now with all these religious groups blowing everything/everyone up, and NK rattling their sabres etc.

Anyway, Happy New Year to all - my 56th!

Crikey, 55 this month!

Has anybody got a video of the intro I done for the 4.0 (or was it 4.1?) release around - I would love to see it again.

70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

I am sure you are all watching it on TV. My Grandfather, William Stokes, was at both the evacuation of Dunkirk and also in the D-Day landings as a REME. He was born on 6 June, 1913. My Quake2 D-Day nick 'Bill Stokes' always reflected that. My avatar is my actual grandfather aged around 5/6 years old...

Being an armchair critic - the acting is a bit 'wooden'.

Re: DDay on Android & iOS tablets and smartphones

Well, I am sorry, but I maybe the wrong age. To me, a phone is what you use to 'telephone' people, and a 'PC' is a static device that I use at home to surf the 'net, e-mail, program and stuff. How can you play QuakeII dday when driving car? And for that matter, can I get a job like yours so I can it...

Very Nice Bill I too would like to have a script to restart server when it crashed so that it came back up with the same map being played and a script that showed the players on the server on a web page I have seen that on the wayback machine. But I am using winxp here. So Bill this was your webpag...
